Steven Hendrick, M.D., F.A.C.S.
Dr. Steven Hendrick is a board certified surgeon specializing in bariatric (weight loss) surgery. He has over fifteen years of surgical experience and has performed over 1,500 weight loss procedures.
Dr. Hendrick’s surgical interests include both laparoscopic and daVinci® robotic-assisted gastric bypass surgery, laparoscopic adjustable gastric band (Lap Band), the laparoscopic sleeve gastrectomy and revisionary bariatric surgery. In fact, Dr. Hendrick was the first surgeon in Michigan to perform a robotic-assisted gastric bypass procedure. In addition, he has research interests in the relationship of gut hormones to appetite and the long term results of the laparoscopic sleeve gastrectomy.
Dr. Hendrick has authored numerous articles and presented nationally on the topic of bariatric surgery. He is recognized as a Bariatric Surgeon of Excellence by the American Society of Metabolic and Bariatric Surgery (ASMBS) and is a member of several professional organizations including the ASMBS, American College of Surgeons and American Medical Association.
A graduate of Wayne State University School of Medicine, Dr. Hendrick received his residency training at St. John Hospital and Medical Center in Detroit. Prior to joining the team at Harper Bariatric Medicine Institute, Dr. Hendrick was medical director of the Bariatric Surgical Center at Henry Ford Wyandotte Hospital.
